MusicFest has been a popular showcase for young musicians and their bands for over 20 years. Bands playing all music genres are encouraged to enter, including: rock, alternative, blues, jazz, reggae and world beat.
MusicFest provides a professional environment where young musicians may
gain experience and confidence performing in front of live audiences and
judges. This is an opportunity for young artists to receive constructive
feedback from music industry professionals and experienced local
musicians.
The public is invited to attend this all-ages event in support of these aspiring bands and entry is free!
Finalist bands are judged on:
Musicality/Balance/Intonation
Rhythmic Clarity/Cohesiveness
Stage Presence/Audience Appeal
Vocals - Harmony/Style/Balance
Solos/Improvisation
Composition/Originality
Winners receive the following prizes:
Champion:
Fender Guitar or $750 Portland Music Company Gift Certificate
8 Hours ($400 value) of recording time with Backline Records
2nd Place:
$300 Gift Certificate
6 Hours ($300 value) of recording time with Backline Records
3rd Place:
$200 Gift Certificate
4 Hours ($200 value) of recording time with Backline Records
All three top bands receive the opportunity to perform at the Rose Festival's Waterfront Village!
