Volunteer for the 2025 Portland Rose Festival

It takes hundreds of volunteers to make the Portland Rose Festival happen each year! Thank you to The Standard for generously supporting our volunteers!

FLOAT DECORATING:
Float decorating volunteers can join us for mini-float decorating in the spring (beginning in early May) and full-size float decorating from May 31-June 6, 2025. All float decorating volunteers will get the chance to get up close and personal with our floral floats and help put the finishing touches on before the big day. Along with your crew chief, you'll help paint the base colors for each float, then apply the matching organic materials which may include seeds, beans, rice and of course LIVE FLOWERS!

No experience is necessary as your crew chief will help you flex your creative skills on anything from cutting leaves from a stem, filling water vials, pulling petals, or even slicing fruit. All float decorators must be at least 14 years old (with an accompanying adult) and sign a waiver (adult or guardian). Volunteer shifts for float decorating are generally scheduled in 3 hour increments. We welcome everyone, even if you are unable to stay for a full volunteer shift.

PARADE DAY BARRICADE GUIDES:
As a Parade Guide, you'll play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and enjoyment of both participants and spectators along the parade route. Your enthusiasm and dedication will help make the event a memorable experience for everyone involved. We are in need of Parade Guides for all three parades this year:

CareOregon Starlight Parade on Saturday, May 31, 4:00pm – 10:30/11:00pm
Fred Meyer Junior Parade on Wednesday, June 4, 10:30am – 3:30pm
Grand Floral Parade on Saturday, June 7, 7:00am – 2:00pm

Please sign up along with family and friends! In exchange for your time, parade day volunteers will receive a free ticket into CityFair, a volunteer t-shirt, and community service hours. Parade Guides should be 18 or over.
