Roses for Hope Rose Gardens - Viewable all Summer
Taking inspiration from the holiday tradition of loading the family in the car and touring neighborhood light displays, the Rose Festival has created a spring-time version with a Porch Parade presented by Pacific Power. After a successful first weekend touring homes in Northeast Portland, the Rose Festival shifts its attention to the southern side of the map, and will again form a procession of dignitaries to tour selected homes that have registered at
ParadingInPlace.com.
Staging for this Saturday’s procession will be at the All Saints Church on NE Gilson at Cesar E. Chavez BLVD, where the Royal Rosarians will display their 2020 Traveling Float, accompanied by Rose Festival Living History characters:
1907 Portland Mayor Harry Lane and the 1950′s version of the Rose Festival’s first elected Queen,
Thelma Hollingsworth.

ABOUT THE PORCH PARADE presented by Pacific Power
This spring the Festival asked members of the community to celebrate Rose Festival season and inspire hope by decorating their front porches, windows or sidewalks. Residents with rose gardens visible from the street or sidewalks were also encouraged to register. Porch Parade decorations are to remain on display May 16 through May 31.
A virtual map of registered locations is available at ParadingInPlace.com, identifying great places to plan a walk or drive-around neighborhoods, and enjoy the celebration. Saturday, May 30, a Rose Festival VIP Procession will drive-through Southeast Porch Parade neighborhoods to thank creative fans for their participation.

The Royal Rosarians “Roses for Hope” rose garden celebration included in the Porch Parade map features rose gardens visible from the street. STILL TO COME – THE GRAND PETITE PARADE
This virtual parade will feature shoe box-size floats created by community members, a celebration of marching bands, equestrian units, and other Rose Festival parade favorites. Just like the early Rose Festival parades that used Portlanders’ own roses to decorate the floats, participants were invited to use materials from home to build shoe box parade floats and submit a photograph or video for a June 6 video streaming presentation.
