The Rose Festival is Seeking Volunteers For Float Decorating, Parade Management and Environmental Stewardship
Volunteers make the non-profit world go round, and after two years, the Rose Festival is back and seeking to rebuild its foundation of volunteer support. The Festival is recruiting groups and individuals to volunteer for float decorating, parade management and to help restart its world class, award-winning, clean and green parade programs. Additionally, charitable contributions to the Portland Rose Festival Foundation help cover the cost of things like parade route trash bags and CityFair recycling stations.
One of the most coveted 'Voluntourism' opportunities in the Festival is Dec-Week, the week leading up to the Spirit Mountain Casino Grand Floral Parade, when groups and individuals come from all over the country to spend quality hours picking, poking, painting and pasting anything from big flowers to tiny seeds that make up the fabric of the award-winning floats. Many slots are available for businesses, groups and individuals to sign-up now. Decorating hours are flexible depending on individual needs, and volunteers can sign up for after work time as well!
There are additional opportunities to support the parade, as volunteers are being recruited to help with parade operation and management, including the award-winning parade Clean & Green program, which has won more environmental awards than any other festival in the world! In its fourth decade, the Clean & Green Festival program has concentrated on the economy, and education, of training responsible parade-goers to reduce their own impact on city streets.
Volunteers can join the Rose City Reunion and be a part of the Festival's float decorating, Parade management, and Cleanest & Greenest Team for The CareOregon Starlight Parade (June 4). To volunteer, sign up at this website!!!. (The deadline to sign up is Friday, June 3.)
The Portland Rose Festival is proud to celebrate more than 20 years of award-winning Clean and Green parades in Portland. The Festival has won more environmental awards than any other festival in the world! It wasn't done alone. Including support from haulers like Heiberg Garbage & Recycling, Junk-N-Joe, Metro Regional Services, and Wacker Sanitary. This was done with help from the worlds best parade fans and dedicated volunteers!
