Health & Fitness Expo Precedes 2013 Rock 'n' Roll Portland Half Marathon

Friday, May 17 (from noon to 6:00 p.m.) and Saturday, May 18 (from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.) the public is invited to attend the Health & Fitness Expo, taking place at the Portland Expo Center (located at 2060 North Marine Drive, in Portland, Oregon). This FREE event features the latest health and nutrition information, with numerous products for sample and sale -- plus interactive fitness clinics.

If you're not running in this event, be sure to come out to cheer on the participants in the 2013 Rock 'n' Roll Portland Half Marathon this Sunday, May 19!

Beginning on Naito Parkway and ending in Waterfront Park, runners take off along the waterfront before heading into East Portland via the Hawthorne Bridge. They continue to run near Laurelhurst Park and across the Steel Bridge, before returning downtown. A rousing post-race concert and finish line festival will welcome finishers, family and friends, with headliner Andy Grammer performing a live free concert (open to the public).

On Tuesday, May 14, at Pioneer Courthouse Square, the Rose Festival joined fans who were celebrating the achievements of the Portland Winterhawks, current winners of the Western Hockey League (WHL) championship (who received the Ed Chynoweth Cup trophy for ice hockey).

Oregon's Grand Man is Announced as Grand Marshal for the Grand Floral Parade

2013 Grand Marshal, Gerry Frank, is an author, a speaker, a veteran, a statesman, a businessman, a volunteer and a fourth-generation Oregonian. "Gerry has built a long career out of his love for the State of Oregon." said Todd Johnston (President of the Portland Rose Festival Foundation). "There is not an Oregonian alive today who hasn't been impacted by his work. We are honored to pay tribute to someone who has done so much for us."

Introduced to an enthusiastic crowd at a special ceremony in Macy's downtown store Thursday evening (June 9), Gerry will be featured in the 'Celebrate Oregon' section of the parade (held on Saturday, June 8). Currently the President of Gerry's Frankly Speaking, Inc. and Senior Advisor at Aequitas Capital Management, Inc., Gerry served as Chief of Staff to former United States Senator Mr. Mark O. Hatfield for 20 years and has often been referred to as 'Oregon's third Senator.' He was named the first-ever 'Oregon Premier Citizen' by gubernatorial proclamation!
